Each week I take a look at the potential outcomes of the upcoming game on an absurd level a lot of the assumptions will be based on Michigan vs OSU game highlights. ( I haven't heard of the OSU game roster as of yet so assumptions abound)
1. Mizzou is 1-0 to end the 2023 year. The SEC gets a "W" in bowl season. Missouri finishes the season as a top 5 team??!??
2.Devin Brown is 12/22, 197yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 19 car, 35 yds, 1 TD.. Not exactly a wealth of information on this offense with Brown at the helm. My educated guess is we get after Brown early and see what his composure is like under pressure. We must create Havoc and speed up Brown's clock. Mizzou has to get 6 or more sacks and a combination of 6 QB hits/ Hurries along with those sacks
3. My guess the first move to protect Brown will be to run Henderson who amassed 854 yds and 11 TDs on the season on 137 carries. We also need to be aware of Henderson in the passing game. On the year Henderson had 29 receptions for 229 yds.. that's roughly 12yds a reception...I would imagine OSU tries to start with the run and see if Henderson can maintain his 6 yds a rush clip.. I think we can manage to get that average down closer to somewhere near 3.5 yds similar to the 4.0yds per rush we held Georgia to. If and when we are successful against the rush we need to be ready for their screen game with the backs.... we were able to get 5 PDs and 5 TFLs we must improve on those numbers. As a start I'd like to see 8 TFLs and 8 PDs
4. Offensively people keep saying this may be the best Defense we see. I say Georgia is still the best with that said the offense will start the party with zone run after Cody has had almost a month of rest. I think Cody amasses at least 150 yds on the ground. ( Ohio St averaged 113 rush yds/game against them this season). The O-line should make it their mission to dominate the LOS
5. Proctor and Burke lead this defense in pass break ups ( with 8 and 9 respectively) it's Corner that could be an issue is Jordan Hancock 5PDs, 2 INTs for 133, 1TD. I think if the O-line handles the rush we can get the ball to our playmakers and move the ball through the air after establishing the run.
I say Brady throws for 230 yds Against a D not known for allowing passing yards.
Luther has 90 yds, Theo has 60 yds, Mookie has 45 yds Against his old squad. The remaining 35 comes from Norfleet and Miller. I know you guys want to know where is Johnson well I hope my yardage is wrong and Speedy Quis adds 2 rec for 70 yds and a TD but I think they bracket him to keep the ball out his hand.
6. A match up that worries me a little is tOSU tight end Cade Stover with Chuck Hicks in coverage. We must help with JC or Joseph on him in coverage. Chuck is more of a mauler on blitz or in run support his weakness has been in coverage.
7. Of the 6 sacks I am foretelling I can see K. Williams with 2, D-Rob with 1, Walker with 1 and the other 2 from a combination of LBs and DBs
8. It's hard to say how Brown will play with 12 completions in 22 attempts. I can see the strong possibility of 2 INTs from Brown assuming we can stifle their ground game. Defense comes up big and keeps the Buckeyes under 125yds on the ground and under 200yds passing.
9. Your 11-2 Cotton Bowl winning Missouri Tigers win this game 30-23 as we prep for success in the 12 team CFP playoff next year!!
As per usual this is for enjoyment and promoting conversation around the team. The opinions are mine and mine alone. Please enjoy and let the commenting begin.
