The usual suspects will cry like little bitches about this, but nonetheless it's hilarious.

950 MILLION ANDROID DEVICES AT RISK DUE TO MMS VULNERABILITY

Keep a close eye on your phone.KYREE LEARYAndroid users should be on the lookout for any video messages they receive that suddenly disappear. Why? Because it could mean that particular device has been compromised.

A group of researchers from Zimperium Mobile Security revealed the flaw in the mobile OS, now going by the name "Stagefright," along with the news that around 950 million Android devices are actively vulnerable to being attacked.

An attack on an affected Android device is so simple that it only requires the attacker to know their victim's mobile number. Even more troubling, however, is the fact that no action needs to be taken on the device itself for the effects to take hold. And after sending a multimedia message containing the exploit, different parts of the device, including the microphone, camera and Bluetooth, can be accessed.

"Unlike spear-phishing, where the victim needs to open a PDF file or a link sent by the attacker, this vulnerability can be triggered while you sleep," reads Zimperium's report. "Before you wake up, the attacker will remove any signs of the device being compromised and you will continue your day as usual – with a trojaned phone."

Any Android device running Android version 2.2 or later is vulnerable, but those with versions prior to Jelly Bean (Android 4.2) are at the most risk. Meanwhile, anything older than 2.2 is unaffected.

Zimperium has more to share regarding these vulnerabilities, but is holding off until the Black Hat and DEFCON conferences in August. The company has provided Google with several patches fix the issue, however, but noted that it's "only the beginning of what will be a very lengthy process of update deployment."
