This might be the worst end-of-game scenario I've ever seen.
Creighton, playing at home, was up by 3 with 0.8 seconds left, had the ball, and LOST.
They were inbounding under the Marquette basket, so the Bluejay tossed the ball towards a player in the backcourt (Marquette's backcourt toward Creighton's goal). If anyone (there were both a Creighton and a Marquette player back there) would have touched the ball, game over. But no one did; they both just watched the ball go over the endline.
So, naturally, the ball went back to the original baseline and was Marquette's ball. Still only 0.8 seconds left.
Marquette lobs the ball past the arc, and the Eagles' (I think that's their mascot now) player catches, COMES DOWN, and rises up to shoot a trey that swishes. The Creighton timekeeper should probably be shot.
Not surprisingly, Marquette won in overtime, due mostly to the unconscious shooting by a Mr. Young (Justin, maybe?), who ended up with 52.
That seems like a very Mizzou way to lose a game.
