Fellow Mizzou fans ...
I'm looking to hire a news producer to work in my newsroom in St. Joseph. We produce 10 hours of local news per day across FOX, NBC and CBS affiliates. We're a family-owned company based in St. Joe that operates stations in more than a dozen markets -- mostly in the West -- but we also own KMIZ in Columbia, which mid-Missouri residents are likely familiar with.
Our president/CEO was once president of the Board of Curators at Mizzou, and we have a lot of Mizzou grads in the newsroom, including myself. As the assistant news director, I am the direct supervisor to the producers and would be one of the people involved in the interview/hiring process. I've hired three Mizzou grads as reporters in the past 9 months, and would love to add one to my producing team. We're market 201, which isn't exactly the big time, but we'll put you in a position to move on to bigger and better things at the end of your contract. We've sent people straight from St. Joseph to big markets like Phoenix and Miami, and we've sent several producers to stations in Kansas City.
A good friend of mine started as a producer here and now works at KMIZ, plus he's an adjunct in the J-School. He posts on this board, but I won't tag him because I know some people in media like to keep their message board identities secret. If he reads this and wants to comment about our station, he's welcome to do so.
