Rams made Goff the #1 overall pick in exchange for 2 #1s, 2 #2, 2 #3s (granted they did get a #4 and #6 back)
Rams extend Goff and pay him $57M in bonuses/guarantees before the extension even starts. So $57M for nothing.
They also have to eat $22M in dead cap in 2021.
Not the first time the Rams granted an extension that never started.
Gurley also got a 4 year extension but was cut before even playing it. The Rams paid him $43M for nothing and had to eat $20M in dead cap. Of which they had to defer $8.4M into 2021.
If you also consider the trade of WR Brandin Cooks where the Rams took a dead cap hit of 22M. So by my count, the Rams have 3 of the 4 largest dead cap transactions in NFL history. At what point does all this dead cap and no 1st round draft picks catch up with them?
And of course, good ole Enos was diposed last week in the relocation lawsuit. How much is Enos going to have to give back to STL? Trial is set to being October 25. Word is that its a slam dunk that Kroenke will have to pay for the cities legal fees and the $17M they spent to try and retain the Rams. On the flip side, STL has floated a settlement at 1 billion for the value of the franchise that departed. The sides are not close on an agreement.
