A lady staying at our Lodge in Branson this morning said she was Mad as Hell at the Mizzou Athletic Dept. for laying off her son-in-law.
Of course I was wearing my Mizzou gear and she related the story, and I had heard nothing about this and am not for sure it is factual or fiction.
She said 4 positions were eliminated within the Athletic Dept. due to the pending sanctions. These were $60,000+ a year jobs.
These were guidance counselling jobs. The counsellor's assisted both scholarship and non-scholarship athletics. within the dept. on curriculum, finance, housing, food and any matters that the student athlete brought to them.. This would of course also be providing tutor's.
She said the University told her son-in-law this program was eliminated due to the pending sanctions. He asked if he could be instated in another capacity until the matter was settled and they told him according to her that they were eliminating the program for the time being
He just took a position at the University of Tulsa for the same job.
My question is this correct and did we need to eliminate jobs within the department due to the pending sanctions or is she just not getting the facts correct?
