I’ve mentioned before that Rylan Griffen went to my high school. Two years ago, a group of us started attending his games. Our numbers swelled to 30 or more. It was like a reunion. Cason Wallace was the star of that team, but he and Rylan were some 1-2 punch. The No. 1 team in the country for a long stretch, according to Max Preps. Both were unselfish players who got everybody involved. Then in the fourth quarter you could always count on a highlight-reel dunk or three. What a treat.
Now Cason is the first guy off the bench for the OKC Thunder. And it has been fun to watch Rylan develop these last couple of years. He had 19 points against UNC and 13 points (on just 8 shots), 6 assists and 4 rebounds against Clemson. And he is a dogged defender. Held UNC’s RJ Davis to 4-of-20 shooting and made Girard work for every shot.
