I think it's becoming very clear that Odom wasnt the right hire right now if we didn't want to go through a major rebuild.

If we wanted to win this year, hiring a first time head coach probably wasn't the right move. I'm not saying Odom was a bad hire and won't be successful at some point. But I'm starting to realize hiring him now relegated us to a major program rebuild.

Sidenote: Barry Odom needs to take over the defense and go back to what they did last year. Why fix something that ain't broke?

Agreed. At the very least he doesn't have to look like an undisciplined slob on the sideline.

He talks like he took over a team that had no talent. That is just not the case. Maybe they don't have the talent to compete with the upper sec teams but this team plays like they're a bunch of walkons playing in their 1st game.

No way in he!! This defense should be this this bad. Look these players aren't stupid they know they had a good defense last year and now Cross comes in and wants them to change what made them successful? I'd be pissed too!

How's this supposed to be any better next year? lose Harris maybe add Nate Howard.. lose Penton n Gibson, lose Scherer, lose Augusta

Babers or fleck both would have been better hires in retrospeck

The players, these players, boycotted last season when things didn't go their way. Then after their choice was hired they decided they did not like the chosen defense so they have rebelled by dogging it, not learning the scheme, and pouting through much of th season. I'm not really talking about the boycott, but the mentality of the players who latched onto the idea of it when things began to spiral on the field.

Barnett has said, harshly, that there is a virus on this team and will not get fixed anytime soon. He was not complimentary of the team after the GA game, but strangely dismissive of the decent performance. Said GA is bad, and not much can be gleaned. He has turned out to be right. We have some viruses on this team going back to Maty Mauk and DGB even. Guys in leadership roles that do not have mentality to deal with adversity and change.

The coaching has been bad, I agree, but is it too far fetched to believe it's possible some players have sabotaged at different levels? It's the teams makeup?

Agree.

Pains me to say it, but GP was on cruise control. Talent level, rigor/commitment, scheme (Henson, Andy with QBs) all slipped badly. Failed miserably to use the good fortune of the SEC East wins to step it up. And then, last year.

Odom was, by far, the safest bet among the guys we could actually hire. His job became immeasurably harder and more urgent, today. I hope like hell he can do it.

All that stuff about Odom making things right after Pinkel let things get out of control seems like an afterthought now.

It shouldn't be dismissed. It slipped over time. Our talent peaked a long time ago. Not going to be fixed overnight, even IF we could have hired a Larry Fedora.

Relax, Barry's got this!

You guys shouldn't get caught up in silly things like wins and losses.

Please support our True Son, despite the results.

Thanks in advance.

Signed

I would give my left testicle to be Ohio State in this scenario.

We let a school with the name "Middle" in it drop FIDDY on us at home for homecoming and the Cubs are headed to the World Series. I don't do drugs but I may have to get me an eight ball tonight.

Right...and I'm sick of the b.s. excuses..."pinkel left the cupboard bare." Bullshit! This defense was expected to take over where they left off. Lost but a handful of players.Guys are just making excuses for Odom and Co.

B.s....in not buying it. Dudes have millions to lose by dogging it in some cases. Scheme and coaching related.

Don't blame you, it's baffling. Did that look like a team dialed in? MTTS had two long runs from scrimmage on our defense, one receiver split three defenders and 40 yards forvTD. I'm not saying these guys are throwing the game, or not meaning to say that. I'm saying the character on the team leadership has s questionable, and with everything we have read about buying in there is something going on.
