The Missouri Tigers (12-3) welcome the Youngstown State Penguins (2-8) to Taylor Stadium in its final non-conference weekend series of the season.
Nine of the 12 Tiger wins have come by the way of weekend games. Missouri split a four game series with Seton Hall, swept a four game series against Hofstra and took three of four from University of Illinois-Chicago last weekend at Taylor Stadium.
Missouri has dominated Youngstown State leading the all-time series 10-1. The last time the two teams met was in 2007 at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers swept the Penguins, 10-5, 11-0 and 11-0. In the all-time series, Missouri has outscored Youngstown State 110-13.
The Tigers hope that trend can continue as they head into the weekend series. Through 15 games last year, Mizzou was hitting .239 as a team with only 66 runs (4.4 per game) according to MUTigers.com. This year through 15 games, Mizzou is hitting .278 as a team with 96 runs (6.4 per game).
Missouri’s 12-3 start marks the Tigers best 15-game start since 2008 when the team went 13-2 to open the season.
