We have ourselves a QB. Not enough can be said about the poise and decision-making Bazelak has already begun to demonstrate. When is the last time we had a QB who regularly completed 70% of his passes.. as a RS Freshman to boot. CB is our new CD.
Bazelak completed 71.4% of his passes last year as a true freshman. That number was suspect, given that he only had 21 attempts. He set a record last week by competing 85% of his passes against LSU. That was suspect as well because their defense is porous, but impressive nonetheless. Today he completed 70% of his passes with no picks, against Kentucky, who ranked #3 in Pass Defense and #2 in interceptions. No really bad decisions or close calls. So far this season, he is 49 for 69 for a 71% completion rate, even with no non-P5 cupcakes to feast on. His worst performance to date this year was completing 50% of his passes, with no picks, against Alabama.. in the first game of the season under a new offensive scheme.
It's not a given that he will continue to get better. But I don't see how he won't with time. Daniel kept getting better each year. Most QB's do as they gain experience. Especially as we continue to upgrade our OL and WR talent over the next year or two.
