...was a difference maker! For a four hour game including lots of fake injury media timeouts, being able to sip an adult beverage with friends definitely enhanced the fun of attending in person. Contrasting that with the in stadium experience I had earlier in the afternoon at Notre Dame stadium which did not have this attendee option, Purdue was more enjoyable game experience despite all the “hallowed” trappings of the Irish stadium.
I hope the SEC and Sterk take this policy nod from the Big 10. IMHO, not only will the athletic department hold on to their game day crowd longer, they might pull a few more guys off their couches and HD TVs on Saturdays while also putting more revenue in the kitty.
Seems like a win-win to me! And I didn’t see any evidence of unruly behavior due to selling alcohol from students or old guys like me. Just like pro games, they stopped selling at end of the 3rd quarter.
