BREAKING NEWS: PRESIDENT BIDEN SHUT DOWN EFFORT TO UNCOVER VIRUS ORIGIN

Shortly after taking office, President Biden shut down a State Department investigation into the origin of the pandemic.
The effort, launched last fall, was investigating the lab leak theory, as well as connections to China's biological weapons program, CNN is reporting.
The existence of the investigation, and its termination, has never been previously reported.
The news will likely lead to more questions for a Biden administration that is already facing intense scrutiny over its lack of effort to investigate a virus that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. Yesterday the White House even deferred to the World Health Organization when asked why it was not doing more to directly address the causes of the pandemic. An official admitted to CNN that their effort to uncover the origin is primarily focused on “rallying pressure and support for the WHO's investigation.”
The decision to terminate the inquiry was made after Biden officials were briefed on the team's interim findings in February and March of this year. Opponents of the of the investigation say Biden shut it down because of concerns that it was part of an effort by the Trump administration to “blame China”.
“It smelled like they were just fishing to justify pre-determined conclusions,” said one source. “The way they did their work was suspicious as hell.” It was “conducted in secret”, and the case “fell apart” “when real scientists finally got a chance to see their analysis”.
Sources involved in the investigation reject the criticism. They say it was not a politically motivated program, but rather a probe into unanswered questions that need to be investigated. It relied on scientific research and classified information from the US intelligence community to examine how the virus could have emerged in the lab, as well as its potential connection to the Chinese military.
The State Department's arms control and verification bureau was involved in the probe as part of its legally mandated review of countries' compliance with arms control treaties. The US government believes China has an offensive biological weapons program in violation of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention in 1984. China denies this.
The Biden administration ended the project, questioning the quality of the work, and deeming it an ineffective use of resources.
Yet Republican Sen. Tom Cotton points out this morning that, if the investigation was terminated over the quality of its work, why wasn’t a new investigation begun?
Biden national security officials have admitted publicly that the US intelligence community does not have any solid details about the origin of the virus.
“It is absolutely accurate that the intelligence community does not know exactly where, when or how [the virus] was transmitted initially,” US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said last month during a congressional briefing.
“Despite continued calls for the need to understand what caused the outbreak more clearly as a way of preventing a future pandemic, the US still is far from understanding its precise origin,” the CNN article concluded.
