I listen to a lot of sports radio and podcasts when on the road and every show seems to have their favorite bookie. I do not bet on games, but I like to listen to these guys because they bring a different perspective.
That said, I have often wondered how many of these guys bet their own money and how many just give advice for a fee? With no money on the line, I am around 70-75% on the ESPN Pick'em games (with money I lose every time). I can't imagine having my own money riding in a business model like this, and I can't imagine the stink if it were found out that you did not bet like you were advising others. Keeping out of the money exchange and just selling information seems like the way to go... but is that the case?
