After the success of Bama and GA in the semi-final games yesterday, I (stupidly) thought "wow, think of the extra money the SEC is going to get for having 2 teams in the championship game". Then I found this article:

I looks like having 2 teams in the Championship game will actually hurt the individual team payouts for the bowl money this year. Not only are we behind the B10 and ACC in total payout (thanks to the Orange Bowl), but now the conference will pay Bama and GA an extra $2.125 million for making it to the title game without additional compensation for being in that game.
Another interesting tidbit from this article is that Mizzou only gets enough money to cover travel expenses. We didn't reach the threshold to get "bonus" bowl money from the conference since the Texas Bowl only gives out $3 mil per team.
