Good for him!
Alongside quarterbacking Missouri football to a 10-2 finish in the regular season, Brady Cook impressed with his academic talents this season.
The redshirt junior signal caller was named the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league's coaches Thursday, becoming the second Tigers' football player to earn the honor in the past three seasons.
Former Missouri running back Tyler Badie took home the honor in 2021.
Cook, who finished third in the SEC with 3,189 passing yards, earned his bachelor's degree from Missouri as a magna cum laude graduate in December 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master's of Business Administration, per an MU release. He earned Academic Honor Roll accolades in each of his first three seasons.
His classroom success mirrored his on-field dominance as the former three-star recruit led the Tigers to their best regular-season finish since the 2014 season. Cook accounted for 28 total touchdowns and set the SEC record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception at 366.
The selection marks the second time in this calendar year that a Missouri athlete has earned SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year honors. Former men's basketball power forward Kobe Brown was selected as the SEC's winner of the honor this past spring.
A product of Wentzville, Cook will have an opportunity to build upon his breakout season and continue his meaningful play when Missouri learns its postseason bowl opponent. The Tigers' bowl matchup and location will be announced Sunday.
