COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri signal-caller Brady Cook was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 List for Week 3.
Cook – also named one of the Manning Award’s stars of the week – has been officially added to the Midseason Watch List and is eligible to be named the 2023 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award winner. The O’Brien will announce its quarterback of the week on Tuesday.
Cook helped lead a come-from-behind, 30-27 win over No. 15 Kansas State at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field which saw the Tigers score 13 fourth-quarter points.
He finished 23-of-35 for a career-high 356 yards and two touchdowns, his first career 300-yard game. He also picked up his 10th career rushing score, third of 2023 and the first rushing score allowed by K-State this season.
Cook broke Chase Daniels' program record for consecutive passes without an interception with a mark of 281 attempts, surpassing Daniels' 254 set from Nov. 4, 2006, to Sept. 15, 2007. Cook became the ninth player in Mizzou history to eclipse 20 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns over a career, becoming the first quarterback to reach both marks since James Franklin (2010-13).
The Tigers (3-0) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23 taking on Memphis in the Mizzou to the Lou Classic in St. Louis. Kickoff from The Dome at America’s Center will take place at 6:30 p.m. CT and air on ESPNU and the Tiger Radio Network.
