Reviewing the top 100 and the same 10 schools showing up in that list. Many of those kids are going to those schools for prestige, but also because of the coaches there.
What if the NCAA were to cap the compensation packages for coaching staffs?
I don't know if that's even legal, but wouldn't it help level the field a little bit if no coach could make more than $5M/year and their collective staff no more than say, $3M/year?
Schools could choose to pay less, but effectively, it's similar to what they do with pro athletes, so it could apply. It would give a P5 school the ability to match the salary offers of other schools and let them keep hold of their "Drinkwitz".
