Is there actually less acrimony over the subjective judgment calls used to pick playoff participants than there was when we had AP/Coaches poll champions? Regardless of who wins the championship, a high % of fans are going to say that the B1G’s bowl performances, particularly compared to the SEC bowl performances, are proof that OSU should have been in the playoffs. (BTW, I totally agree that the Iowa performance disqualifies OSU from complaining legitimately). I think it’s hard to argue that the B1G isn’t the best conference. And I hate it b/c I am an SEC patriot & will never get over getting played by the B1G. I think the SEC needs an all SEC finale to regain some of the claim of supremacy,. If it does, the criticism of it being a very top heavy conference, at best, is undeniable.
I’d say the answer to my original question is that there’s more consternation now than there was before. But there’s also much more money, so we can all be happy about that.
