The Tigers said goodbye to Associate Head Coach coach C.Y. Young this morning. Miami then quickly announced his hiring as an associate coach.

closer to home..kind of..not sure how the flights line up between tally and columbia, but tallahassee to miami is a 7 hour drive…might fly i dont know

It sounds like CY wanted to help Gates get the program off the ground, but he always wanted to get back to Florida as he's from Miami. I don't think it's any kind of indictment on Gates, they knew well ahead of time he was doing this
He helped Missouri get off the ground in recruiting when Gates took over. I remember a lot of outsiders raving about him in that regard, and even when I arrived here right before October, I received messages from network colleagues about Young's presence in recruiting. Yet even with who he brought in, he also saw departures of Marcus Allen, Jordan Butler and Peyton Marshall. I don't think many should be worried about him leaving. As many mentioned, he's going back to his home state, even though to a different part, joining a program in need of a spark in recruiting.
Gates was at an event in St. Louis yesterday and he confirmed they new CY was always headed back to FL at some point relatively soon. Obviously he wanted the FSU job and when that didn't happen he moved on this opportunity. There are some notable family health issues that are a big factor in his decision making as well.
