They obviously still have meaning but the landscape has changed so dramatically in the last 2 years that accomplishments 3-5 years ago mean much less than they ever have.

This is a very strange time to hire a head coach. I dont know how to find actual data on this but I am guessing 5 years ago teams were turning over (on average) 25-35% of their roster every year. Now, That number feels more like 45-60% which is a huge difference.

For high major teams, recruiting means getting HS players who can play immediately or finding transfers.

Roster continuity is significantly lower so systems are going to need to be much less complex. This will probably mean a lot more standardization of terminology (this had already started) and the general
NBAification of the college product. Players and systems need to be plug and play.

We should be looking more to the NBA than we ever have. Both in roster construction and team integration. Recruiting is still unique to college basketball but the NBA/professional leagues understands more about this modern version of roster construction. Some component of our next staff needs to have NBA/professional experience IMO.
