Good afternoon,
I had a quick question for the staff and those who are close to the team. What is the coaches' thought on this team? How confident are they in the talent level and staff they have? I'm curious if this is a team that is quietly confident that they could win 9-10 games.
As an outsider, this is what I'm seeing:
This seems like it could be one of our most talented teams ever due to star rankings (ON PAPER). Drinkwitz has stacked multiple solid classes and transfer portal hauls. Yes, that also includes our QB, which is the most important position on the field. I will say, playing devil's advocate, the running back room is just dudes IMO until someone steps up (I think that needs to be Nate Peat) and the O-line isn't fully answered. Cody Schrader is a 3rd down back, and we need someone to step up and ensure that that is the role he plays.
While I don't believe on an individual basis recruiting rankings matter, it does on a macro scale, as generally speaking the teams with the most 4- to 5-star recruits win (Oklahoma, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, etc.) In addition, it allows you to mask deficiencies in other areas. Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida beat us close last year because they had more talent, and their C-level game was still better than our B+ game.
In conclusion, I think our talent is finally getting to the point where we could do the same thing...and the offensive coordinator was a hit IMO with Kirby Moore. He has already been called a young Sean McVay (Sorry St. Louis people)

As an outsider, this is what I'm seeing:
- We return multiple starters on a top-35 defense
- We have a deep wide receiver group according to Drinkwitz with Burden, Wease, and Dannis Jackson
- We return a decent QB with SEC starts under his belt in Brady Cook (and two 4-star recruits that could definitely beat him out). We have LEGITIMATE depth at that position, not just dudes filling the depth chart to create fake competition.
- We brought in two rock-solid transfers on our worst position (O-line) with Camron Johnson and Marcellus Johnson. In addition, Delgado and Foster have many starts in the SEC.
- Austin Firestone and Nyles Gaddy are great additions to the DE room that could be productive right away
