‘I Feel Like I’m Just Drowning’: Sophomore Year in a Pandemic
A group of high school students try desperately to make it through an isolated and dire year.
This is a long form read. I had to skim some redundancies. The meat though - the teacher featured in the story formed a group that was considerably responsible for keeping kids home in the fall. She made a “progressive teacher” secret FB group that rallied teachers to show up to the Board meeting in November because limited capacity would keep concerned parents from being able to enter. Because parents were trying to tell the administration what was happening. It took her seeing students admit to wanting to end their life to see what had been created. Knowing what I know - the article is infuriating.
