One thing to consider in this and I am okay with it as long as one thing is not over looked. Rebounding! Yes, a lot of smaller guys can rebound and that is part of my point. The rest of the point is are those smaller guys good rebounders. If they are not good rebounders, then they will lose out when there are bigger bodies around them on the other side. Rebounding is the hard nose football linebacker type mentality that will be needed when that happens.
An possible example of that has occurred in the Boston/Cleveland NBA series. The Celtics have made the move to positionless ball even though they don't quite have all the right pieces just yet. However, they are not a very good away team. Evidence in these play offs where they are winning by doing it when they have home court advantage. Apparently, Brad Stevens saw that the Cleveland bigs were manhandling his team especially at home so he balanced what he thought would help with a mauler inserted in the starting lineup last night and it helped.
I have always said rebounding is more than a big or tall body. It has a lot to do with the mentality of the guys going in there. Its their ball and mom is calling him home to supper!
