Personally. I think the Dem best political play was to let MTG unseat Johnson with the hope there would be a repeat of the last speaker process that did not reflect well on the Republican Party. By saving him, Dems made a non-issue of an event that only had a chance to be positive for them.

Interested in others thoughts.
