This board seems saturated with predictions about Drew Lock. He seems to have a tremendous amount of talent, and people are wondering if he will go early in the draft. Really? He is 18 years old, and has never played a college game yet. I hope he does great, but lets be patient. Mel Kiper doesn't have him on speed dial yet.
One of the most debated issues is should he be red shirted this year to preserve his final year of eligibility? Many seem to want to hold him back if he isn't going to start because we don't want to waste any of his years, as if we will never recruit another great QB.
How about a different point of view? People seem to think another talented QB like Drew won't come along again. However, if you are a high level HS QB you probably don't really want to sit your first 2-3 years in college. If they see Mizzou is willing to give a true freshman a shot at playing early, despite an established QB ahead of him, don't you think that is appealing and it would give us a better chance at attracting another high level QB prospect?
HCGP can be stubborn and slow to change at times, but we all know he can evaluate talent and he has become more open to allowing talented players play early, as most of the elite programs do, and this trend should help MU long term. Just my thoughts.
