Mitchell is writing story:

6 yers, $24 million. If he win eight games OR wins a bowl game in his first two seasons, a year is added to the contract and the pay goes up by $100,000. Incentives could max out at 850,000 per season.

Staff pool is 5.2 million (up from just less than 4.8 under Odom)

If he is fired without cause Drinkwitz receives 70% of the money remaining on the contract.

Buyout if he leaves for another job:

Before January 15 2021: $6 million
January 15 2022: $4 million
2023: $3 million
2024: $2 million
2025: $1 million

Missouri will pay Appalachian State a $1.7 million buyout

We got jobbed on that buyout. If he is hear 5 years just a million dollar buyout? That's peanuts if the big boys come sniffing. Hell 6 mil is peanuts. This is extremely coach friendly.

The BOC did not do Sterk favors with that leak, removing all leverage for contract negotiations.

If he’s here for a 5th year, he’ll be working under a different contract with different buyout amounts. The 5th and 6th years are practically irrelevant because he will never make it that far without having left or getting a new deal.

As I said before, if he is here five years either we won't care if he leaves or he will have a new contract.

Right. The only way the 5th and 6th years of this contract matters is if he sucks... because if he does, then that's what the 70% buyout will be based on when he gets canned. If he's successful, those years on this first contract will never be realized -- there will be completely new terms under his extension/new contract.

Should be able to pay over $1 mil for a proven DC with that pool money and not needing an OC. Let’s see who he can get.

Did anyone ask if he retains any of the current staff?

With multiple members of current staff present, that would have been very uncouth.

With the big contract comes the big expectations. Should win 7 right out of the gate next year and then move up to 8+ per year. Anything less than that then you got to question what are you paying that kind of money for.

AD is definitely setting him up for success. It will be interesting to see who brings from App St and who he recruits from outside the program.... can’t imagine he’ll keep anyone from Odom’s staff.

@GabeD does that 5.2M include the budget for support staff, or is it just for the position coaches?

If the latter, its a very strong investment, on par w most of the SEC

These money moves are the ones Pinkel foresaw needed to be made to have success in the SEC. Great seeing everyone step up and make a bold move!

Am I reading that right, he only needs to win 8 games or a bowl to make it a 7 year deal one time or is it in both of his first two seasons he needs to win 8 games or a bowl, cause if it is just one of those in the first two years thats not crazy to think he gets two shots at lower level bowls at least

Barry didn’t do either in his first 2 years, so it’s not a guarantee...but shouldn’t be unattainable.
