It's understandable why people are underwhelmed by the stats and offer list at first glance.
However, let's look at some reasons why this could be a guy that flew under the radar:
1. He played for a juco that went 29-4 behind a system that uses 4 guards/wings and only 1 "big" that they constantly rotated bcuz they played fast. Ed played as a the big in that system.
2. He only averaged 16.9 mintues a game but led the "bigs" in mintues.
3. It was a very guard dominate offense, but he led the "bigs" in both scoring and blocks
Is he a superstar? No, but here also played out of position on a dominant team in a system dominated by guards and wings. When he gets here, he's going to play what is more of a stretch 4 instead of defacto 5.
He's a guy that will come off the bench but can stretch floor and block shots. That's a useful skillset to take a chance on.
We all wanted a Justin Turner or some other big name difference maker. Instead, we got an under the radar guy who played out of position and split mintues in order to help his team have a dominant season and go undefeated in their conference.
6'8, shoots with all kinds of range, blocks shots, and sacrifices for the team. This guy has a chance to fill a roll for this team.
Granted, we've got to find a higher caliber recruit that can score for us still, but don't write this guy off just yet.
