Starts by saying how excited he is for the sellout. He said he needs fans ready to go early for the 11:07 am kickoff.
They have a talented football team. All 11 starters on offense are returning from last season. He knows they have loads of talent on offense.
Sees the confidence in the offense growing. He thinks Kirby Moore is getting more and more confident with the players executing the scheme.
"Biggest room in the world is room for improvement."
Last week was about improving in the red zone and third downs. They did that last week but they have to keep getting better.
It's up to the coaches to identify the issues and the players to execute once they determine what those issues are.
Darius Robinson is questionable.
Jayden Daniels is an elite player so he's a challenge. But Mizzou can't put all its focus on him because of how dynamic the rest of the offense is.
Calls Malik Nabers explosive, can make all the catches, can be a deep threat, etc. (it's like describing Luther Burden III in a way).
Even though LSU's pass defense is pretty bad. He thinks that Ole Miss' QB played an excellent game. So, he's not taking them lightly. He said they don't allow teams to complete the deep ball.
Was really impressed with the pass pro vs. Vandy after reviewing the film. Also, thinks the run fits defensively were good. He's disappointed in the backside of the run schemes. He thinks the backside run blocking is not good. He thinks they should be getting six or seven yards per carry instead of two or three yards. He didn't anticipate those issues but now they are here.
Luther Burden has grown from top to bottom. Starts with maturity. Not that there was a problem, but Drink talks about the little things getting better. Like he doesn't eat junk food all day.
He also said LB3 wasn't even 100% last week but his work ethic and desire to get healthy enough to play is a big thing.
You don't schedule an opportunity you have to be ready for it. Austin Firestone was ready. He was a practice squad guy to start the season.
He thinks Cody Schrader and Nate Peat have good synergy and have done well picking up protections.
Red zone will be key in this game. Both teams have good red zone offenses but not great red zone defense. Mizzou can't settle for a lot of FGs when LSU has explosive offense.
Mekhi Miller is questionable (head). "Those head injuries can be tricky. .. We definitely miss him."
Part of the third-down struggles is because Miller isn't available.
"This game isn't more significant than another SEC game. It's good to play in front of a sold-out crowd, but the reality for this team is it's the next opportunity in a string of 12 opportunities."
Defense is multiple. OLB/DE Harold Perkins is one of the better players in the league. Said Perkins has probably drawn at least 5 holding calls. Calls Mekhi Wingo elite. It's challenging to prepare against a multiple defense because they don't know what LSU will do.
Offensively, they use a lot of shifts and motions. LSU is a top 10 third-down team. Daniels' mobility and ability to hit his hot read is a big thing. They can also hit the deep ball.
