The Chamber is back at it this week with news on the 2017 class. The focus will mostly be on football recruiting, but we'll have a note on the next basketball prospect we expect to receive an offer.

As always, the Chamber is premium information for PowerMizzou.com subscribers only, so keep discussion of these topics limited to the Tigers' Lair.

- We will start with a new 2017 name for Mizzou fans to follow very closely. St. Louis (Mo.) Vashon TE/OT/DL Levi Stockard is expected to take an unofficial visit to Missouri tomorrow. Not a lot is known about Stockard right now. He plays tight end and defensive end for Vashon, but we are hearing Mizzou likes him best at offensive tackle. Stockard was 3rd team all-state on defensive line for class 4. He is also a very good basketball player. It sounds like an offer this weekend is a possibility.

- The 2017 in-state prospects we are hearing could be closest to offers are Dayon Moore and Thomas Dutton. It sounds like both could land them at Mizzou junior day on February 27.

- Speaking of Mizzou junior day we hear there will be some changes to the format under Barry Odom. No longer will almost any junior with a pulse receive an invite. The number PoweMizzou.com is hearing is 40 max. We'll call it the Brendan Scales rule. Coaches didn't like old format because they couldn't spend time with everyone and they prefer not to tick anyone off, again.

- Other 2017 in-state prospects that we feel like could be in line for offers are Ryan Newton and Andrew Clair. There is no doubt that Clair is very talented. We continue to hear that his size is the biggest issue for the new staff. It is no secret they like big backs. That doesn't mean he has no chance to get an offer though. He definitely has the staff's attention.

- For anyone who missed it here's a look back at our initial 2017 Missouri top 15 from last week.

1. Chester Graves - DE - Kansas City (Mo.) Park Hill - Height: 6'4" Weight: 220

2. Larry Boyd - OL - St. Louis (Mo.) Trinity Catholic - Height: 6'5" Weight: 320

Last class Missouri offered 11 in-state prospects. It seems like this class it will be very close to that number and maybe even more since it seems like more guys are being identified early. We still feel like the overall small class size will play a role and could lead to less guys who are close to an offer actually getting one in the end.

- We've had numerous questions over the last year or so about why no offer for McQuitty and Djimon Colbert. There is a chance both could still get offers, but it sounds like it will happen after Colbert has committed. He told our Iowa site that it will pick either Iowa or Nebraska. Colbert, who is at Bishop Miege now after transferring from Winnetonka, will commit in March after junior day visits to those two schools.

Now the written Mizzou junior day invites have just been sent out in the last day or two so Colbert could still get one. It sounds like even if he does there will be no visit. McQuitty and several other in-state prospects have received verbal invites so that's how some guys already know they are attending.

Here is part of the reason for no offers for either. At Mizzou's combine camp last summer McQuitty measured in at 5-foot-11 and 188 pounds. He ran a 4.87 forty. He had 33 inch arms. Colbert measure in at 6-foot and 196 pounds. He ran 4.73 and 4.83 forty. He had a 30.5 inch vertical and 34.5 inch arms.

Here are a few other 2017 names you all know and how they performed.

Thomas Dutton: 6'7" - 220 lbs - 5.08 & 5.09 Forty - 30.6 & 31.0 VJ

Ryan Newton: 6'1" - 217 lbs - 4.74 & 4.81 Forty - 28.7 & 26.9 VJ - 33 Arm

Anthony Payne: 6'1" - 221 lbs - 34.3 & 33.8 VJ - 31 Arm

Shane Clenin: 6'4" - 255 lbs - 5.52 & 5.51 Forty - 20.4 & 21.9 VJ

- Last night Brian Austin sent out 30 messages to guys that we identified as 2017 prospects that the old staff had offered, were not committed anywhere and we had not talked with recently. (We had been in contact already with Chester Graves, Larry Boyd, Jeff Thomas and Ondario Robinson so they were excluded.) He got replies back from 13 and was told wrong number on one. Only four (Malcom Askew, Ambry Thomas, Greyson Reed and Toryque Bateman) said they had heard from the new Mizzou staff and they all said they still have interest in the Tigers.

Wyatt Davis, Damon Williams, Deangelo Gibbs, Derrick Tucker, Brad Stewart, Deejay Dallas, Tyler Hamilton and Malik Herring all said they hadn’t heard from Mizzou since Barry Odom was hired, but are still interested in the Tigers. Austin Troxell said he hadn’t heard from Mizzou and wasn’t interested.

Dylan McCaffrey was the wrong number. He did not get replies from Jamyest Williams, Jeffrey Okudah, Michael Lee, Markail Benton, Anthony Hines, Darnell Ewell, Marvin Wilson, K'Lavon Chaisson, Donovan Jeter, Will Farrar, Walker Little, Malik Garye, Colin Wilson, Adarius Lemons, Davis Mills and Kamilo Tongamoa.

What does it all mean? These are all pretty talented players so in almost all cases we think Mizzou would honor the offer if someone wanted to commit. It does seem to indicate that the players who have not heard from the new staff are not big priorities. At this point at least.

- Ambry Thomas, Ondario Robinson, Daulton Hyatt and Elliot Baker are all planning to visit Mizzou in late spring or summer.

- A few notes on basketball. Mizzou offered 2016 center Cheickna Dembele this week. Mizzou is looking for more post help next year. The staff still likes what they got in Mitchell Smith and Reed Nikko, but understandably think they need more to go with those two and Kevin Puryear. It will be interesting to see what happens with D'Angelo Allen, Jakeenan Gant and Russell Woods after this season.

- Dembele joins Deshawn Corprew as a major target for Mizzou in the spring signing period. PowerMizzou.com has heard that Corprew will visit after the season and Mizzou still feels very good about their chances despite the Kansas offer.

- 2017 basketball targets that could be getting offers soon are Parker Stewart and Hassani Gravett. Rob Fulford has visited both recently. It sounds like the Stewart offer could happen anytime.

Nice Chamba...Thanks for the name linking. It really is a nice feature and I understand that it takes some work. I appreciate it.

Heard Bossi on the radio yesterday say that Corprew is a backup plan for kansas. They will only take him if some of their higher rated prospects go elsewhere.

I am curious........where is the offer to Michael Porter II?? If you ask him, he may come..... YEAH....YEAH.....I know...... NO negativity please.....

Be interesting to see once they get a chance to see Stockard in person if they feel like he could add the 60-70 lbs it will take to be an SEC OT. Curious to see if he would be better off as a 6'8 250 lb DE instead.

Question on Andrew Clair: where is University High? I've never heard of it; it's not the same as U-City is it?

Where would Colbert have ranked in the top 15 had he not moved to Miege?

Gabe have you guys identified who we are targeting at QB for 2017? That is usually one of the first positions to be targeted and committed, just wondering.

University High may be the same as St. Louis University High.

Man that's a lot of talent that's interested but haven't heard from us. This staff better get busy in a hurry.

Daulton Hyatt is visiting Mizzou like we said. He's one to watch. There are a couple in-state guys who need to be followed. Aqeel Glass who is in our initial rankings. Also Dalton Hill from Lee's Summit and Payton Evans from Aurora. We haven't been able to contact Dylan McCaffery or Davis Mills to gauge their interest.

South St. Louis City, east of Forest Park. There's University City High, as in where Ronnell Perkins went, then there's University High/St. Louis University High/SLUH...home of Clair and Raymond Wingo.

For the record.....I "heart" Andrew Clair. He's got the "it" you look for in tailbacks. He has the kind of vision and instincts that can't be taught.

Hmm Bill Self or Kim Anderson? Winning or losing? NCAA tournament every year or No Tournament at all. Yup kids got a tough choice.

He won't have a choice between the two unless kU strikes out on a few other guys. Of course, he has other offers than those two so I'm not getting my hopes up.

If Shaka Smart and Bill Self have offered even as a back up plan, then I feel good about his abilities at least.

Anyone know if Corprew is an outside shooter or more of a slasher? Hopefully he is a true "shooting" shooting guard at 6'4. We badly need outside shooting, and guys who are also athletic enough to defend if they are in the game to shoot.

Until HCKA start effective recruiting in-state, I am not looking for others (Corprew) to come to Mizzou. If you can't recruit at home where they at least know something about you. I doubt you can get it done at a high level elsewhere. However, I'm still hoping for the best!

GO TIGERS!
