I find it interesting how widespread the assumption is that Herman will succeed at Texas. Frankly, IMO Strong had a much better resume coming out of Louisville than Herman does, but I don't recall there being much of a consensus on how well Strong would do - some thought he'd kill it, some saw it as a risky hire. Is race the difference, meaning that was why many people doubted Strong would garner the needed support, but don't have the same concerns with Herman? Or was there some other obvious character flaw or coaching weakness that Strong had and Herman doesn't with respect to Texas? Not trying to start any arguments, I am just curious as to the source of the difference I have noticed in the reaction to the two hires. Or am I imagining the difference?
