St. Mary's was the dominant team in a 42-10 win over SLUH on Friday night, here are my final thoughts...
Roberts was a beast on Friday night. Over 200 yards rushing, two touchdowns, and around 30 yards receiving as well. He's a big running back that runs with power and he's hard to take down. I think maybe only one of his runs went for negative yardage on the night. He can also hit another gear once he gets in the open field. The 50-yard touchdown run and the 43-yard gain were prime examples. Roberts really did it all, running north/south, east/west, catching the ball out of the backfield, and delivered a handful of impressive blocks for his teammates.
Definitely an off-night for Wingo and anyone would expect more production out of a five-star prospect. But, he flashed his speed and athleticism at times. QB play was an issue for SLUH, it was that kid's first start on the varsity level. On occasions where Wingo was open or created space he was overthrown. There was a nice 45-yard TD connection in the 3rd quarter that was nice. Wingo also had a handful of tackles at safety and returned a kickoff for around 35 yards as well.
Wingo told me he's going to Ohio State next weekend. He also is planning to take fall visits to Pitt, Penn State, and a return trip to Notre Dame. He said he'll be back at Missouri for the Georgia game as well and is looking forward to watching Luther Burden.
McIntosh is impressive in-person and every bit of 6-foot-3. He did a great job of covering Wingo throughout the entire game. There were probably 3-4 balls toward Wingo when McIntosh was defending him and a completion wasn't had. They both went up for a 50/50 ball down the sideline at one point and McIntosh had no issue jumping with Wingo to keep it out of his hands. I think K-State is getting a good one.
I'll reiterate, I was impressed with Hendricks. Scored SM's first touchdown. Scored on another long run, but it was called back due to a penalty. He told me he was waiting to take all of his official visits this fall, however, he doesn't have anything scheduled at the moment. He mentioned Wyoming and Arkansas State as a couple of schools pressing hard. Not sure if his stature is preventing him from being a take at a power five program, but I could see him going to the G5 level and being a potential all-conference player.
I liked what I saw from Pace tonight. Hauled in a couple of catches on offense, runs really well in space. Also lined up at defensive end. He's still young and with his father's pedigree could grow into something special. Already has early offers from Missouri, BC, and Ohio State.
