With the passing of Lou Brock, it got me thinking where he ranks amongst Cardinals greats. Pujols is a tough one for me. But, I left him off the list because he will spend more years with the Angels than Cardinals. Here’s my list;
1. Stan Musial
2. Rogers Hornsby
3. Bob Gibson
4. Lou Brock
5. Ozzie Smith
After reading some really good comments on Cardinals greats in this thread, I’ve been convinced that Ozzie should be replaced with Pujols on this list.
I think of Ozzie as more of a true Cardinal than Pujols, but that’s more about Ozzie being a favorite of mine.
I find it interesting that the Cardinals arguably have the two greatest right handed hitters in MLB history in Rogers Hornsby and Albert Pujols. That’s pretty amazing!
