I grew up playing hockey in Jeff City, and I've always been so confused why Columbia, with it's growing size and pretty good Parks & Rec facilities, doesn't have a hockey rink?

On Monday, College Hockey South announced that Auburn, along with Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and the University of Tampa, will create a new D1 division of college hockey within Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) College Hockey.

If Auburn, Bama, Georgia, USCe, and Tampa can get division 1 teams (as well as Lindenwood and Nebraska-Omaha, Arizona State, and two teams in Alaska), I feel like all Mizzou would need with the hockey talent in St. Louis and Chicago to eventually get a D1 Men's and Women's team is to have a rink with a couple thousand seats close to campus. Why hasn't the City and the University come together to make it happen? If you build it, they will come.
