It's the final day of the early signing period, so to ease you guys in here, let's start with what you already know.
Mills will sign with Missouri some time today at a ceremony in Texas. I don't know the exact time, but he'll be a Tiger by the end of the day barring something completely unforeseen.
Now for the good stuff. There are two players making announcements today who have Missouri in their group of finalists.
This is an Illinois and Mizzou race. Prior to last weekend, the prevailing thought was he was staying close to home and playing for the Illini. But Missouri came out of the official visit feeling really good. Brown texted me to ask if I could come to his ceremony. I cannot, but we are sending someone. To be fair, he also invited the Illinois site, so this alone is not an indication Missouri is getting him. But we feel good about Missouri's chances based on everything we are hearing. At this point, we feel confident in predicting Brown commits to Missouri at noon.
There are two ways to watch the announcement live.
I also have someone in Chicago covering for us and he will Periscope the ceremony live on PowerMizzou.com's Twitter page
Swinson is supposed to announce today between Mizzou and Nebraska. We've guessed Nebraska earlier in the week, but we told you we really didn't have any actual information. We're changing course on this one. We think, based on what we're hearing, that Mizzou gets Swinson today. Not sure for a time on his announcement, don't know if he's having a ceremony. When we see the decision, we'll have it here ASAP. The one thing that could throw a wrench in this is that he was offered by Texas A&M last night. Will be intriguing to see if that makes him wait until February. But if he signs today, we predict it is Missouri.
That would bring Missouri's commitment list to 23, including 20 that signed this week. The exceptions are Jatorian Hansford, Tyrus Wheat and Vincent Gray.
Missouri will definitely continue to pursue all three. We feel good about Wheat signing in February. There's a better chance at Gray than many think. And with Hansford, it all depends on who comes in and offers in the next six weeks.
That would leave five spots. One will go to a quarterback and we believe it will be Lindsey Scott Jr. Jahmir Johnson and Johncarlo Valentin are obviously still high on the wish list. They'd take both, which would leave two spots for the "best available regardless of position." If they miss on one or both of them, just add another "best available" spot to what they'll look for in February.
Stay tuned, should be an interesting day.
