I like this conversation. We don't have to wait to see if he can succeed "with his own guys" because this is his squad... an incomplete one at that as he didn't even have a recruiting cycle ahead of it. No, I didn't think this would be entertained in year 1, but Gates has been damn impressive and is knocking on the SEC COY door.

I have no idea if any better programs will come after him this off season, but I do know this.
1. Mizzou can afford him (long-term)
2. Mizzou can be one of the "big boys"

Everything this guy does is impressive. I think we all want him in black & gold a long time. Personally, I think extension talk will happen in the off season... and I bet his agent has already been texting DRF.
