So today I’m at my daughter’s Upward basketball game. She’s in 1st grade and absolutely terrible. We’re working on it. Her team is 1st-3rd and actually very good despite my daughter. They’re a feisty bunch and very competitive. A parent from the other team literally says today “at least our girls are polite.” Polite?! There’s no polite in basketball!! “Excuse me - do you mind if I steal the ball now?” Anyways. It reminded me of how other teams feel about Sophie. I love watching our girls play hard and not be afraid - and i keep hoping my daughter catches on to her teammates. But it bothered me. In this day of “strong women” and such - they’re still expected to be “polite” in athletics

This turned into a “dear FB” post - but just curious about thoughts from other sports fans.
