It's the hometown team and the blue bloods of college football. Not a bad group to pick from. Williams, 17, said it hasn't been easy.

“Every school is going to have nice stuff. I want to go to a place where I can grow as a player, become a better player and has coaches that are going to help me out,” he said. “But I know coaches do change. Where I do pick, if the coaching staff changes I can still be comfortable in that situation. And academics, always.”

Williams said he and his family plan to take official visits in September and then make a decision in mid-October with eyes on signing during the early period Dec. 19-21.

“I got woke up out of my sleep. My dad came in the room and gave me the phone. It was very exciting,” Williams said. “He was talking to Coach Barry Odom.”
