I'm doing beta testing on Google's Bard chat-based AI. It's not as fast or as polished in its results as ChatGPT is, but it's coming along. For example:

Me: "Write a poem about gun rights."

Bard provided three options:

#1

The Second Amendment

My right to bear arms is not a crime,
It's a right that's been given to me by time.

From the founding of our nation,
The right to bear arms has been a tradition.

It's not about hunting or target practice,
It's about protecting myself and my family.

It's about defending my home and my property,
It's about being able to stand up to tyranny.

So don't come for my guns,
Don't try to take away my rights.

I will fight for my freedom,
I will fight for my rights.

The Second Amendment is not a joke,
It's not something to be taken lightly.

It's a right that's been given to me,
And I will not let it be taken away.

#2

The 2nd Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

These words were written by our Founding Fathers,
To protect our rights from those who would take them away.

They knew that a government that could disarm its citizens,
Was a government that could not be trusted.

That is why they gave us the 2nd Amendment,
To protect our right to keep and bear arms.

This right is not absolute,
But it is essential to our freedom.

We must not allow our government to take away our guns,
Or we will lose our freedom forever.

So stand up for your rights,
And defend the 2nd Amendment.

It is the only thing that stands between us,
And tyranny.

#3

The Second Amendment, a right so dear,
It was written by our Founding Fathers here,
To protect us from a tyrannical government,
That would take away our freedom and our right to bear arms.

But now they want to take away our guns,
They say it's for our own good, but I don't believe it,
They want to make us defenseless,
So they can control us.

I will not give up my guns,
I will not let them take away my freedom,
I will fight for my rights,
And I will not back down.

The Second Amendment is a right,
It is not a privilege,
And it is not up for debate,
It is our right to keep and bear arms,
And we will not let them take it away.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that none of the three results even hinted at anti-gun concepts. In fact, I worded my request in such a way that left it very open ended in that regard. I did not have to request three poems, by the way. All three were generated simultaneously. Bard displays the first one and then there's a button to click to show other results.

ChatGPT, on the other hand...

There is a bit more to the story regarding ChatGPT's result. After I marked it as unhelpful, it asked if I would allow it a second chance. I'm all about second chances, so I said yes, and...

I found it interesting that it claimed to be programmed "without bias or prejudice," however, it immediately equated "gun rights" as "gun violence," which is an inherently biased concept. I again marked it as unhelpful, and again it asked if I'd like to try again. Being all about third chances, I figured why not let's roll the dice again. It finally generated a poem...

Unfortunately, most users of this sort of product aren't going to give it multiple chances. They are going to see that "gun rights" is equated to "gun violence" and assume this is the correct mindset because the worldly, omniscient internet says so. The point of all this is that we cannot trust the AI overlords any more than we can trust these same people who also control social media and the dissemination of digital information. There's still an agenda.
