I watched the very first basketball game played in Hearnes on November 25, 1972. True stud John Brown scored the first points. Watched Willie Smith, Stipo, Sundvold, Ricky Frazier, the Detroit Tigers, Anthony Peeler,,,, great memories from watching a ton of games in that building.
I do hope that MU basketball can return to prominence but the way the college game is today I am not sure that will happen any time soon if at all. Maybe I am just old but I thought college basketball was much better without a shot clock or the 3 point line.
Anyway, it was nice to revisit the Hearnes Center and let my mind wonder back when MU played very tough hard-nosed basketball.
