*The story of this game is the Missouri defense, and more specifically the Missouri secondary. The Tigers have eight pass breakups (three by Kris Abrams-Draine, two by Ennis Rakestraw) and an interception by Jaylon Carlies (the first thrown this year by AJ Swann). The one thing we thought Vandy had was a passing game. The Tigers have shut it down. Swann is 11-27 for 95 yards with a QBR of 62.8. Vandy's leading receiver has two catches for 32 yards.
*Offensively, this is the day everyone wanted to see Sam Horn. We expected to. Still probably do. But Brady Cook has played well. Definitely better than against K-State, Auburn or Florida. He's 14-19 for 191 yards and a touchdown. Yes, the interception was awful and he can't throw it. Outside of that one pass, he's been good.
*This is the Luther Burden we thought we were going to see from day one. If it's the one we see going forward, that's great news. He has more all-purpose yardage in this game alone than he had in Louisiana Tech, Kansas State, Auburn, Georgia and Florida. Combined. Also two touchdowns.
*The offensive line is awful. Vanderbilt is averaging 5.1 TFL per game and hasn't had more than seven in any game and that was against a terrible Hawaii team. They have six today. Missouri has run it 15 times for 37 yards and 28 of those yards came on two carries. It's good Missouri is playing Vanderbilt. This line can't win them another league game playing the way it has today.
*I still think we'll see Horn. But it's kind of tough. Cook is playing well enough that he shouldn't probably be pulled. But the score isn't so out of hand that you can afford a turnover from the freshman. I'm interested to see how it will be handle.
*This is a bad game. If Missouri is the 13th best team in the SEC--and it probably is--the gap between 13 and 14 might be as big as the gap between. 5 and 13.
