*That was one of the ugliest halves of offensive football I've ever seen (particularly the first 25 minutes). Ryan Hilinski looked like a true freshman starting his first road game. So did Kelly Bryant.
*This was some of what we saw out of Bryant in fall camp. Everybody keeps asking why we have said Bryant has been better than we thought. He struggled with accuracy for a lot of camp. He had open receivers for a lot of that half. He just didn't hit him. Unfortunately his most accurate pass went to a South Carolina defensive lineman and let the Gamecocks right back in the game.
*Credit Bryant and the Tigers, though, they found a little bit of something late in the half. SC did not.
*Albert O is now averaging a touchdown every 3.8 receptions in his career. That's insane.
*It's easy to say this from the press box, but it looked to me like there were a lot of questionable decisions by Bryant on the zone read.
*The Missouri defense was really, really good. SC has 31 total yards and got its first points because the drive started three feet from the end zone. The Gamecocks are averaging 1.05 yards per play. Ryan Walters' unit is playing lights out. And don't start telling me this offense isn't good. They put up 459 yards on Alabama last week.
*I think the biggest difference since the opener has been the safety play. Tyree Gillespie and Joshuah Bledsoe are out there making plays in the run game and the pass game and even blitzing.
*Cale Garrett deserves a lot of credit. We talk about his football IQ but I think we probably don't do it enough. There were 22 players on the field on Garrett's TD and he was the only one who realized it was a live ball. On the replay you could see him tell the official immediately "He threw it backwards." Excellent play.
*HUGE half coming up Missouri has to close this out. Absolutely has to.
