As good as Missouri played Saturday against Florida, it was that bad in the first half against Mississippi State. Maybe worse. The offense looked totally disjointed from the jump, seemingly alternating between forcing entry passes to players who couldn't handle them (and had little chance to score anyway) and taking tough late clock threes with the wrong shooters (looking at you, Mitchell Smith). When they tried to push the pace, it usually resulted in a turnover. They had 11 giveaways the whole game against Florida and already have 13 tonight. Mississippi State has feasted off those turnovers, scoring 18 points off them. The Bulldogs have hit a few tough shots, but even if they hadn't, they'd be up double digits. Given the way these two teams generally play (both are among the 100 slowest in the nation), it's very hard to see Mizzou coming back from down 20 unless it starts shooting 65 percent from three again.
