Mizzou had Xavier Pinson and Reed Nikko early, Dru Smith late...and not much in between.
Dru is keeping Mizzou in this almost alone with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Outside of him, Mizzou is just 2-10 from three point range. They haven't been bad shots (except maybe the one Mitchell Smith took from 28 feet). They've mostly been open. Missouri just hasn't made them.
I'm in shock we got to the under four timeout before either team was in the bonus. They have actually been allowed to play basketball. I like this way better. They got a bit whistle happy in the last four or five minutes, but overall not bad. Now that I said that, we're getting 30 fouls in the second half.
Jeremiah Tilmon has made a couple nice moves, but it looks pretty clear he's the backup to Reed Nikko at this point in time. Looks like Torrence Watson will be the minutes victim with Mark Smith's return. He didn't come in until there were just more than five minutes to play.
For a decent amount of the first half it seemed like Mizzou was playing decently and going blow for blow, but a 13-4 run from the 9 minute mark to the 5 minute mark put the Tigers in a hole.
Here's a big stat: Missouri had no points on eight offensive rebounds. Mississippi State had seven points on four offensive rebounds.
