Let's give it these rules:

- 6 automatic bids to the Power 5 Champs plus the best Group of Five team.
- Any other Group of Five Champion in the Top 25 would also get an automatic bid.
- The rest would be at-large.

Who do you think would get in, assuming no upsets in the conference title games? That would put Alabama, Washington, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, UCF, and Boise State as automatics. That would leave 9 spots.

These are obvious:

1. Notre Dame
2. Georgia
3. Michigan
4. Washington State

Who are the next five? Most folks have LSU and Florida next, and I agree:

5. LSU
6. Florida

That leaves three spots. Let's take this pool of teams:

Penn State, West Virginia, Texas, Kentucky, Utah, Missouri, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Army.

The most compelling to me out of that group are West Virginia, Penn State, and Texas A&M. I would put A&M ahead of Missouri because they only lost by 2 to Clemson. Their other losses - Alabama, Miss State, and Auburn roughly correspond to our other losses.

But I would have us as the first team or two out.
