It’s fun to hear about how these guys are attacking things before the game. The level of prep is high at this level.
Cliff notes — Davis said Mizzou was gap disciplined (overall he’s right, but they struggled vs Memphis, LSU and early against UK). He also liked his chances against the downhill scheme and man D based on what he saw on tape, because he felt like it gave him a chance to beat the trailing backside LB and get one on one in space.
And he was right for those first two drives… that’s exactly what happened.
He also thought they were going to wear the D down over 4 quarters. That turned out to be the opposite and Mizzou adjusted and stayed home on their gap fits. UK got behind, Leary had to throw more, and the Mizzou defense honestly got stronger quarter to quarter.
