From an article in The Athletic on USC QB Kedon Slovis:

New Mexico State followed Hawaii as the next to offer. SMU offered in May, and NC State became the first Power 5 program to offer shortly after that, as Slovis struck up a relationship with Wolfpack offensive coordinator and current Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz.

“Of all the people who recruited me, I really enjoyed talking to him, and he’s a pretty funny guy actually,” Slovis said. “He would call quite often and send me stuff and film they were doing, and it was pretty cool to have the interaction because I hadn’t really been recruited before and even when I had, it was very minimal from coaches. The thing I really appreciated about him when he recruited me, I don’t like being courted in a way, I don’t like when coaches tell you how good you are, any of that, I kind of like talking to coaches and seeing what they like to do offensively.”
