Is Mizzou out of line with opposing fans?

I know every fan base has their knuckleheads. But how bad is Mizzou? Another dad helping to coach my son's football team is from Oklahoma. He mentioned that the wanted to take his son to Columbia for the OU game but heard it's real bad for opposing fans and didn't want to subject his son to it. Is that a valid concern or is it overblown?
