When you can’t get pressure sending 4 on a pass rush, you have to dial up the blitz. That leaves guys on islands. Against elite athletes, you’re going to get burned sometimes.
When you have to stack the box to try and stop the run, the secondary is again left out to dry.
I’m not sure what a guy like Walters is supposed to do.
If Mizzou’s d-line even had Whitesode and Williams, maybe you can play straight up and limit the risks.
It’s amazing how much better the 2nd and 3rd levels get when the line can win their battles.
I think you can scheme around a lack of talent at linebacker, and in secondary. But if the line isn’t good enough, you’re not going to be good enough.
