I know there's many with a grudge believing that Ivey betray the University during the protest. What I know is if Ivey was the strength coach or Steck a position coach the USCe let alone Saturday wouldn't have happened. Ivey was the guy who motivated the players in the weight room, on the practice field and in the game. He was the one looking like he was holding back the dogs coming out for a game. He had a ridiculous passion and desire that translated to the players. From the walkons up he and his staff made sure you did your job. I think Pinkel knew that and let him fill that role. He didn't have to yell and scream his stare was enough. That was the strength coaches they instilled and built up what this team doesn't have.

There was also Steck who got on your ass if you did something wrong, even on offense. He made sure you played hard or didn't play. He was encouraging but you had accountability and the responsibility to play as well and hard as you could for your team. Both Ivey and Steck were like second father's to even the lowest player. BO may have filled that role too as a position coach. He cant really now. He can't be the guy in a players ear every time he makes a mistake. You need the support and structural guys to fill those roles for the players. Cross sounds like he might have taken the Steck thing to far. Not sure who is the father, motivational figure is now.
