If you are in Missouri, keep your eyes on SB11. The basic thrust is that a senator from SW Missouri, and an SMS grad, wants to open up the PhD's and research opportunities outside the MU system. Long and short, he is angling so SMS can expand again. As we have all talked about, there is too much overlap in Missouri already and there is no need for SMS to broaden its charter when the job is already being done. All this will do is water down the programs at all schools and cost Missouri more money.
